A quote to remember and live by.
Robert Frost One of my girl's English teacher had them study Robert Frost this year and this poem. The teacher told them that this was a poem of regret, that the speaker feels he made the wrong choice. I strongly disagree with that. I think that the speaker realizes that not taking the easy path enriched his life. I'm curious what others think about this poem. Is it about regret or gratitude?

Walt Whitman, Camden, NJ, 1891. "I believe in the flesh and the appetites, Seeing, hearing, feeling, are miracles, and each part and tag of me is a miracle. Divine am I inside and out, and I make holy whatever I touch or am touch’d from, The scent of these arm-pits aroma finer than prayer, This head more than churches, bibles, and all the creeds.—“Song of Myself” 1855. Walt Whitman. 1891. Camden. Photo Samuel Murray, Philadelphia. In May of 1891, Murray accompanied the New York sculptor and friend of Eakins, William O'Donovan, to Whitman's home and photographed Whitman as an aid to O'Donovan's sculpting the poet: "they took hell's times in all sorts of posishes," Whitman groused, but he was excited about this profile portrait, admiring its "audacity" and its "breadth and beauty both," calling it "an artist's picture in the best sense."
And I know that the hand of God is the promise of my own.
Walt Whitman, a national treasure, poet of the American spirit.
"A morning-glory at my window satisfies me more than the metaphysics of books." - Walt Whitman
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow “Let us labor for an inward stillness-- An inward stillness and an inward healing. That perfect silence where the lips and heart Are still, and we no longer entertain Our own imperfect thoughts and vain opinions, But God alone speaks to us and we wait In singleness of heart that we may know His will, and in the silence of our spirits, That we may do His will and do that only”
