Vomit carpet cleaner. Every mother needs this.

Oven cleaner: 5 T baking soda, 4 T vinegar, 3 drops of Dawn and mix into a paste. Coat the oven, let sit for 15 min and scrub clean.

Homemade carpet powder , also a reader wrote:According to a friend, if you add a cup of borax to this mixture it will kill any bugs that may be in your carpet! (fleas, etc!)Another said:I use nutmeg or clove ground with baking soda, and everyone can't find why my house smells so inviting and homey.

CLEAN YOUR MATTRESS: pour about 1 cup of baking soda into a mason jar and drop in 4 drops of lavender essential oil. Put on lid and shake jar. Using a kitchen strainer sprinkle the baking soda mixture all over the mattress and let it sit for an hour or more. Thoroughly vacuum the mattress. Bye, bye dust mites and other nasty things. The baking soda helps draw up any moisture and deep dirtiness. It deodorizes and leaves the mattress smelling fresh and clean.

An old post card of the once great La Citadelle Inn, Hazard, Kentucky. It's old motto "looking down at the stars" seemed apt. It was a long, trecherous road trip up to it.
