Six Flags New Orleans, in ruins

Devastation: The amazing collection of photographs captured the utter devastation of the city that now sits largely derelict

Seems like I have read a story about a house that was upside down... Mrs. PiggleWiggle, or something.

A boy left his bike chained to a tree when he went away to war in 1914. He never returned, leaving the tree no choice but to grow around the bike. Incredible that this bike has been there for 98 years now!

If only trees grew from the bottom. Which they don't. :(

They grow from the buds outward. In other words, where a bud forms, the growth occurs at the tips of the branches as they develop from those buds. Branches and trunk increase in girth (thickness) but their length and position remains relatively constant except at the ends where the growth occurs, or where buds form and create new branches. However they do grow from the bottom also when they are quite young, i assume the tree grew around the bike though the years since probably it was originally quite young at the momment of the chaining and eventually got taller etc
