Live Action Barbie wears a purple tie-dye bell-bottom jumpsuit with suede cloth trim and fringe. To complete the look, she wore a suede cloth headband and bracelets with fringe (my doll is missing these). Live Action Barbie and Live Action P.J. came in two varieties: either with a battery-operated stage or a Touch N' Go stand. Live Action Christie only came with the Touch N' Go stand. #LiveActionBarbie #70sBarbie

Twist 'n Turn Barbie (#1160), also known as TNT Barbie, debuted in 1967. The 1965 American Girl Barbie doll was the first with bendable legs, but TNT Barbie was the first who could turn at the waist!

In the late 1960s, the hot mod trend was hair! Barbie Hair Fair was just a head with 3 blonde, brunette or titian/red hair pieces: a long braid (in photo), a fashion wiglet, and a long fall of curls. The wig options let Barbie change her look to complement her on-trend fashions. Here she's wearing Twinkle Togs #1854 (1968 - 1969). #hairfairbarbie #hairfair #1967hairfair
Hair Fair Barbie wasn't actually a doll but rather just a head! She was meant to be a replacement head. She had chin length hair and came in blonde and brunette. The package includes hair pieces and wigs. In 1966 the model # was 4042, 1968 #4043 and 1970 #4044. #hairfairbarbie

Her "busy" hands can hold a number of accessories including a phone, record player, color TV, travel case and a soda set of a brown tray with two glasses. Her hands can bend and turn at the wrist, and also grasp and carry. #BusyBarbie #ModBarbie #VintageBarbie #BarbieDoll
1972 Busy Barbie; the most interesting innovation was a new type of hand that could open, close and hold items. She had bendable knees and elbows and a Twist ‘N Turn waist and painted eyelashes. #busybarbie #busybarbiedoll #70sbarbie #modbarbie #holdinhandsbarbie
Newest addition to my Mod Barbie collection is Busy Barbie (#3311) who debuted in 1972; the year maxi dresses, mini skirts, knee socks and patterns happened in a big way! #busybarbie #busybarbiedoll #70sbarbie #modbarbie #holdinhandsbarbie

Growin’ Pretty Hair Barbie #1144 came with cute hairpieces – curls and braids – and accessories to complete her fun look. You could also style her blonde hair yourself with her little hair tools. The 1971 version was blonde with a side part, wore a pink dress and had pink ribbons on her hair accessories. The 1972 Growin' Pretty Hair Barbie wore a peasant / empire dress and the bow on her hairpieces was blue. The latter Barbie is worth more to collectors.

Brad from the seventies. Brad (1970-1972) is Christie's boyfriend and Curtis (1975) is Cara's boyfriend, who are both part of Barbie dolls family and friends. Both black dolls are the same size as the beefier Ken doll and share his wardrobe.

In 1968, Talking Barbie found her voice! New technology allowed her to talk with a pink flower pull-string behind her neck. She suggested fun things to do to inspire hours of play. Barbie said things like, "Let's go shopping," "I have a date tonight," "What's playing at the cinema?" and more. #TalkingBarbie

This is a 1976 Standard Barbie issued in Canada. She's a "Barbie" even though she has the Steffie face sculpt. She has a twist n' turn waist and straight standard legs. #canadianbarbie
This TNT Standard Barbie was sold in Europe (Italy). The red-haired version was only sold in Europe. I think she looks like a hybrid of Yellowstone Kelley and Malibu Barbie. She has the Stacey head mold, wears a one-piece turquoise swimsuit (the same maillot 1971 Malibu Barbie wears) and has bending legs. She was produced in several versions from 1971 - 1976. In 1974, she wore a yellow swimsuit. #europeanbarbie #italianbarbie
She was also known as the "pale or pink skin" Malibu Barbie. She was a simple doll, made inexpensively with straight (no-bend) legs and a no-twist waist. She used the popular Stacey head mold and wore a blue two-piece swimsuit.

Hair Happenin's Barbie is Hair Fair Barbie with a body instead of just the head. She's one of the rarest Mod Barbie Dolls and regularly sells for a premium price. I've seen her promoted as a Sears Exclusive doll but read in other places she was sold at many retailers. Do you know? #hairhappenins #barbie

Sweet 16 Barbie celebrated her 16th birthday on March 9, 1975. She wore a long pink polka-dotted dress and came with long denim shorts and a yellow tank with the #16 on it. Her accessories included a pink cosmetics compact case, a brush and comb, 2 applicators & sponges, and 4 barrettes. By pressing a label onto a barrette, comb, or hairbrush, you could smell a strawberry fragrance. Using the blush applicator, you could color her cheeks too! #sweet16barbie #70sbarbie #barbiecollector
On March 9, 1975, Barbie turned Sweet 16. She wears a long pink dotted Swiss dress, white pilgrim shoes, and carries a pink make-up compact case. There's also a brush, comb, 2 applicators & sponges, 4 barrettes, and 2 label sheets. Her promotional outfit included a long jean short and a yellow tank top with 16 printed on the front. By pressing a label on to a barrette, comb, or hairbrush, a sweet fragrance would be released on the item and could either be placed or brushed into her hair.

This Mod Barbie reminds me of Sharon Tate who played Jennifer North in Valley of the Dolls! With Walk Lively Barbie's walk 'n turn stand, her head and arms move back and forth as she walks. She is packaged wearing a red tricot pantsuit with double belts and chunky shoes. Walk Lively's face looks very much like Live Action Barbie's but Walk Lively has lighter eye makeup, is a lighter blond, has shorter lashes and her brows are a little bit further apart. #WalkLivelyBarbie #70sBarbie

The Truly Scrumptious Doll was one of the first celebrity Barbie Dolls based on a character from the movie Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang. There were two Truly Scrumptious Barbie Dolls - a standard one on the straight leg Midge/Barbie body and a Talking Truly Scrumptious. Both dolls have a Francie head with blue eyes, rooted eyelashes and blonde hair pulled back in a low ponytail. Both dolls were only made for one year. The Talking doll is the one on the left wearing the hot pink satin bodice.
The Truly Scrumptious Standard Barbie #1108, is a straight leg, non-twist waist, celebrity doll based on British actress Sally Howes in the 1968 movie, Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang. There was also a Talking Truly Scrumptious Barbie #1107 who talked and had bendable legs and wore a darker pink dress. Both have a Francie doll head with a Midge body, blue eyes, rooted lashes and blonde hair. They were only produced in 1969 and are considered hard-to-find. This photo is from Marl & B.

Barbie's Mexican friend with a Steffie face mold and frosted hair. Beautiful green eyes (most Valerie dolls have brownish eyes that oxidized over the years). She's wearing a hard-to-find green halter dress #4351 (Barbie va a una fiesta / Barbie goes to a wedding). This doll was produced by CIPSA Toy Brand in Mexico, who got a license from Mattel, and she was only sold in Mexico. I bid on her on eBay but lost to a bid of $474. #ValerieBarbie #MexicanBarbie #Valerie #ValerieModelo #CIPSA
