Adele quote - you are beautiful and make great music. But if you "weigh a ton" you're not going to be making it for very long. Not that she's trying to be some role model, but this isn't the type of person I'd want my daughter to say "I want to be just like her"... | her point is being skinny isn't everything, there are more important things
"My aim in life is never to be skinny." Such a role model!

Brigitte Bardot raised temperatures on the Cote d’Azur when she appeared in just a bikini at the Cannes Film Festival in 1953
This is a 19 year old Brigitte Bardot wearing a bikini at Cannes Film Festival in 1953, starting the trend of bikini-clad stars for the festival. Despite the controversy, some in France admired "naughty girls who decorate our sun-drenched beaches." Her bikini caused a sensation with photographers, and was considered shocking in Western countries. By todays standards it is rather tame but taken in context of the time period, the 1950's, it was ESCANDALO!!!!

Louise Brooks starred in many European silent films, often with frank and realistic depictions of sexuality, notably in 'Pandora's Box', 'Diary of a Lost Girl' and 'Prix de Beauté.' She epitomised the modern flapper look and famously made the bob haircut popular, as well as being known for her sexual liberation, admitting to several lesbian affairs including a one-night stand with Greta Garbo.

Louise Brooks in "Prix de Beauté" by James Abbe (Sofar Film, 1930). Portrait Still (7" X 9.5"). This photo also has the very interesting history of belonging to Brooks. On the verso is a stamp from the James Card Collection. Next to that in Brook's own hand is a note saying, "How this son of a bitch robbed me of most of my pictures." Also her name and address is written in her hand. Brooks and Card had a long running affair, though she was a number of years older than Card. Sold for: $8,365.00

Louise Brooks (1906-1985) was a silent film star. She reintroduced the diistinct sleek black Dutch bob hair style (the famous "black helmet") to the US. In 1927, according to biographer Barry Paris, Brooks was the fourth most written about actress (in terms of major magazine articles) after Clara Bow, Joan Crawford & Colleen Moore. Brooks' career in Hollywood is overshadowed by what is certainly her best-known role, as "Lulu" in the classic German film, Pandora's Box (1929)
Louise Brooks (November 14, 1906 – August 8, 1985), born Mary Louise Brooks, was an American dancer and actress, noted for popularizing the bobbed haircut. Brooks is best known as the lead in three feature films made in Europe, including two G. W. Pabst films: Pandora's Box (1929), Diary of a Lost Girl (1929), and Prix de Beauté (Miss Europe, 1930). She starred in seventeen silent films and eight sound films before retiring in 1935. Brooks published her memoir, Lulu in Hollywood, in 1982.
