Visitors to the Heceta Head lighthouse in Oregon are treated to this wonderful view of the rugged coast line, which evokes the mighty cliffs and redwood forests of the Big Sur Country.

My mom called me last night to tell me this lighthouse figurine collection is on major sale. Then she told me to pick a couple out. Wood Island Light in Biddeford Pool, ME, is so beautiful!

Kilauea Lighthouse, built in 1913 and manned by the Coast Guard and now under the jurisdiction of the Fish and Wildlife Services of the U.S. Department of the Interior.

The Pointe Mitis Lighthouse is situated in the pretty village of Metis sur Mer, Quebec, Canada and was until recently used as a research station by the Canadian Forest Service. The light house also still serves as an aid to navigation. The lighthouse was built in 1909 but established in 1874. The Canadian Forest Service used the light house to conduct research into developing Canada's sustainable forests.

Hook Head Lighthouse (Wexford, Ireland). This site was originally tended by monks and is one of the oldest in Europe, established circa 1172. The present lantern was built in 1864 and converted to electricity in 1972.
