Composer and musician William Zeitler performs his original 'Our Last Transit of Venus' for Glass Armonica and Orchestra. William composed the piece especially for the occasion of the Transit of Venus 2012. Interesting to note is that the Glass Armonica was invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1761 which was also a year of a Transit of Venus!

"Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" on the Glass Armonica. Instrument is made from Lead glass goblets or bowls. The sound is haunting. The instrument's popularity did not last far beyond the 18th century. Some claim this was due to strange rumors that using the instrument caused both musicians and their listeners to go mad.
