The 'Birch' Faberge Egg ~ made in 1917 ~ as a gift from Czar Nicholas to his Mother but was never presented to her. The elephant surprise has disappeared ~ thought to have been stolen by soldiers ~ though the key to wind it exists. The whereabouts of this egg were no...

This is one of Pablo Picasso's one line drawings. Done in ink, Picasso creates a complete contour drawing of a small bird using just one line. I like the innovative and quirky nature of this collection.

Dante and Beatrice: Beatrice (1266–1290) was a Florentine woman known as the muse of the poet Dante Alighieri. Beatrice was the principal inspiration for Dante's Vita Nuova, and also appears as his guide in the Divine Comedy in the last book, Paradiso, and in the last four canti of Purgatorio. She was married to a banker, Simone dei Bardi. Dante met her only twice, each time separated by nine years but was so affected by the meetings that he carried his love for her throughout his life.
