Splash of Love - MMH July 2019 Card

So, I did need one more card to send to my son at camp, and luckily, the My Monthly Hero kit from Hero Arts for this month arrived in time. I did a fairly simple scene using mostly items from the kit. It even included 5 inks, so I used most of them on this card too. The one big addition was an alcohol ink background I had sitting around. This I used for the water. I hope my son is having lots of fun at camp! I wonder if they have a dock like this there. I would like to enter this card into…

Christmas in July

Hello All! Well, it is July now and I haven’t done my usual number of cards per month for the last (at least) 2 months. So I am going to try to get in the spirit of “Christmas in July” to make up for it! My first card is done as a CASE of a card at the ModSquad challenge. I did was change the flowers into snowflakes, but otherwise it is really along the same lines. The background is patterned paper (easy peasy) and the snowman was simply colored with markers with a little glitter pen added…

Sloth Valentine Card

ETA 1/17/20: Thank You Art Impressions for choosing my card as Top Spot! I enjoy puns, and animals can’t be beat! Especially for Valentines, this saying is sure to make just about anyone smile! I colored this stamp from Art Impressions’ Sloth-some set with alcohol markers, die cut out the panel and then just used patterned paper and a embossed piece of cardstock to create the layout. I had some enamel dots with some arrow shapes, so I decided to add one to the card. (I agonized over that…

Pinned It? Try It! - Stenciled Gesso Resist

This is the start of a new blog series for me. Have you ever pinned something on Pinterest, and then never got around to trying that idea? I know — that is a silly question! If you use Pinterest, I am sure you have done that. I am going through my pins and am going to actually try the ideas I saw! My first idea came from this blog post from 2016: My Creative Rumblings. Please check out Shelly’s card. The basic idea was to use gesso through a stencil onto regular cardstock, let it dry, and…

Summer Floral Thank You

Hello! I hope those of you in this heat wave can stay cool. I tried to take a walk this morning before it was too hot, but honestly, I think there was no chance of it not being too hot! I am cooled off now after lots of water. Might as well spend the afternoon inside with my stamp supplies! I am sharing a pretty Thank You card made with some flowers from this great set called Florals Sheet. I realize I should know what this flower is, but I can’t think of it. Does anyone know? I used the…

Eagle Scout Congratulations Card

Hello everyone! I’m thinking that it is full-on summer for most of us! I have seen far less people blogging and commenting. I think you are having fun in the sun, but I hope you also have some time for fun in the craft room. Today I would like to share I card I made to congratulate a new Eagle Scout. There is a lot of time and effort put into this, and I wanted our family to give an appropriate card. I remembered a card that JFF DT Member, Roni, made last year for our Red, White and Blue…

Salted Watercolor - Fiesta Card

Hello and happy Monday! I hope everyone had a nice weekend. We were able to go to a lake and kayak with family. It was really great weather and we had a good time. Today, I am sharing this really fun Fiesta Themed card! I started with the background, which is Ombré watercolor, but I treated it with salt before it dried to get this cool texture! It is one of my favorite techniques. All the stamps were colored with pencils and cut out with the coordinating dies. I actually colored these all a…

Storybook Apple Picking Card - Teacher Thank You

Apple picking season is just around the corner, and so is back to school. I originally was going to use this darling image, Miss Rachel Picking Apples, for a birthday card for my niece, but while in the process, I changed my mind. Instead, I will use it a little thank you note for a new teacher. I watercolored the image, and then decided I just had to paper piece Miss Rachel’s dress. The sentiment that I added is from Florals Sheet. Are you ready for fall? I don’t think I am yet, but it…

A Special Sparkly Birthday Card

Hello and happy Monday! I needed to make a special card for my husband’s relative who is turning 90! I decided to break out a background I made previously, but have been hoarding because I liked it so well. The background was made by inking directly on the watercolor paper with Distress oxide inks, spraying it with water and then laying this large woodblock tweed background stamp on top, and letting it dry. I die cut this out with the wonky stitch die. I then stamped this gorgeous cake…

Giraffes - Non-Traditional Baby Card

Hello! I just received this wonderful set of stamps called Half Sheet 138B and I had to immediately use the wonderful giraffe images. I started by stenciling over some yellow textured cardstock with Distress Oxide inks. I used Fired Brick in the center, and then blended out with Carved Pumpkin and finally Fossilized Amber on the outside. I think this detail photo shows how pretty it turned out! I then used Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink to stamp the images right over top. Since I was…

Sailing - By the Water card

Hello! A quick share today. I have a second card made with the rest of the Alcohol ink background I shared last week. I simply stamped my sailboat over the background, and voila! A very pretty masculine card! This card is part of JFF’s By the Water challenge that I am hosting this month! Hope you will play along!

Ocean Engagement Card

My very good friend just recently got engaged, and he asked her at the beach! Her happy place. So, naturally, I wanted to make a themed engagement card to congratulate the happy couple. I stamped my shells in different neutral colors of Versafine ink, cut them out, and colored them with sponges and distress inks. Before that distress ink dried all the way, I brushed on some different colors of Perfect Pearls. Then I set the Perfect Pearls by spritzing them with water. You can see that the…

Kittens — A Card and an Update

Hello everyone! Thanks for being here today. You may, or may not have, noticed that I have not been around the blogosphere so much lately. I haven’t been at my craft desk much either. My family adopted two baby kittens and while they are completely adorable and loving, it definitely takes time to raise them. We lost our sweet 17 year old cat last summer, who we had raised by hand after he and his brother were abandoned by his overwhelmed feral mom outside our workplace. Now, that was more…

Yellow Floral Thank You Cards

Hello! Thank you for all the wonderful comments on my last post about Pinned It? Try It! I have my next technique picked out and will be working on that soon. We are in back-to-school mode, and have quite a lot on the to-do list! I was able to make it to my craft group last night, and it was fun to talk to everyone about what they were making. A couple gals will be going to a stamping convention this weekend. I wish I had time to join them! Today I am sharing two thank you cards. I started…
