Barnard Castle, set on a high rock above the River Tees, England. Founded in the 12th century by Bernard de Balliol, it was later developed by the Beauchamp family and passed into the hands of Richard 111. It overlooks a working market in the town of "Barney." Richard's boar emblem is carved above a window in the inner ward.

Built in the late 15th century, Ross Castle is the ancestral home of the O'Donoghue clan. On the edge of Loch Leane, in Killarney National Park, County Kerry, Ireland, it is now a B&B.
