Imperfectly Perfect

As a mother, a friend, a woman...this board is my collection of real inspiration and a shout out against the unrealistic, unhealthy, damaging messages we are being bombarded with. Pro Ana stuff makes me want to weep. Yes, I want to get fitter, strive to be healthy but I am never going to look like some airbrushed vision in a PS editors head. And neither is any other woman on this planet. Stop dragging each other down, stop putting sick ideals into our daughters' (and sons') heads. We are all beautiful in our uniqueness. This isn't intended to be pro fat either...just pro REAL. And pro me keeping myself accountable with realistic goals and a healthy outlook. The scales do not define my worth and mainstream media does not get to make me loathe my body in order to sell me "miracle" products. My daughter needs healthy role models. Women are strong and beautiful in so many ways. I want to celebrate that.

These pins were bothering me and I couldn;t articulate why. Then a friend linked me to this. Yes! This is it. Fuck society indeed but not by pitting women against women, not by tying our worth to our physical attractiveness and not by idolising someone who was deeply unhappy. This quote from the comments is perfect imo "Our humanity should matter more than our fuckability" Indeed.

Tumblr Redefined Society vs. Beauty for Me

<3 beautiful inside and out "This isn’t some tan girl covered in makeup with perfectly straight hair and a perfect smile. This is a girl with Pfeiffer Syndrome, who has had bangs her whole life to hide her forehead and struggles everyday to be okay with looking this way. She’s had several surgeries and will have a couple more. she can’t wear makeup much, her eyes are sensitive. Her jaw is misaligned. Her forehead is too thick and has to be shaven down. Her cheekdowns have to be moved forward…

Perception of Perfection. A look at V.S. models before anything applied. They're still beautiful either way.
