The light brown wood used for the frame and weight cylinder is European beech wood. The darker hands and numerals are made of jatoba wood. The wheels (gears) are made of Russian birch. The grasshopper is made of maple with walnut eyes.
The dark wood of the frame is Jatoba (Brazilian cherry), the light colored wood used in the gears is aircraft quality birch plywood from Finland and the hands are made of an African hardwood called padauk.
