Aerial view of the northern end of Vine Street, Hollywood and beyond, circa early 1940s
Nowadays, the northern end of Vine Street in Hollywood is largely offices and parking lots. But in this aerial view circa early 1940s, we can see that the neighborhood was once largely residential, with large and lovely homes and scattered with trees. It’s also nice to see the area before it was bisected by the Hollywood Freeway. And in those pre-smog days, we can clearly see Mt. Lee and the Hollywoodland sign.
