The Azure Of Narsaq, Greenland - Despite deriving its name from the Kalaallisut word for “plain,” the area’s pristine permafrost is anything but. It’s also that which has rendered the township an undiscovered secret: as of 2010, Narsaq is home to a little over 1,600 people.
Photo taken by Tim Vollmer,.The boat behind the ice is HUGINN VE-55, Capelin-boat Catching as much of Loðna (Capelin) as possible before it, gets to Faxaflói and Breidafjordur where it lays its eggs and then dies shortly after. It is a race against time.....And you might notice how close they are to the shore!
An iceberg made of compactly frozen ice, illuminated by light transmitted through it, in the low light of the late evening in Greenland. The sunlight of late summer which lasts almost through the night is refracting inside the dense construction producing the intense colours. It is possible that this unique looking berg is more quickly frozen sea-ice that has blown back into a fjord. Or perhaps fast frozen melt water from a frozen ravine or moulin.
