Maximillian Sunflower: EXCELLENT FODDER! Planting this next to the chicken coup! Maximilian is a perennial that can grow eight feet tall. Blooms late summer to early fall and is favored by ranchers as excellent fodder for goats [stalks] and chickens [seeds]. This sunflower produces a heavy seed head making it great for wildlife. Very long lived, tolerant of heat and drought, thriving in poor infertile soils.
