How to paint barn wood style

Snip off a piece of steel wool. About a 1/4 of the whole poof. But it in a closeable container. Sprinkle about 1/4 cup of used coffee grounds and fill it almost to the top with vinegar. Shake it all together and let it sit overnight. Rub down the unfinished wood with the steel wool... I did two coats, and let it sit out in the sun for 20 minutes or so. Brush off the coffee grounds and you are gtg. Amazing!

Adding faux 'rust', you never know when you'll need to know this...

The owners of this kitchen saved big bucks giving their old kitchen cabinets a faux finish.

To paint over ANY surface, without sanding, use a product called 'ESP Easy Surface Prep', available at hardware and paint shops. Wipe on, wipe off and paint in 90 minutes. Works well over enamel paint , without having to sand. SAVES HOURS of work. It was recommended to me by a professional painter.
