Journey to the West 西遊記 - Classical Chinese literature written by Wu Cheng'en in the 16th century during the Ming Dynasty. The novel is a fiction story of The monk Tang Shang who travelled to the "Western Regions" during the Tang Dynasty, to obtain sacred texts (sūtras). The bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara (Guanyin), on instruction from the Buddha, gives this task to the monk and his three protectors disciples Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing and a dragon prince who acts as a white horse.
