Maker:Pinney (Bartholomew), Mahala. Date:1875 - 1899. A cotton quilt made from multi-coloured printed cotton rosettes of 5-sided jewel shapes surrounded by plain red hexagons. The quilt is hand pieced over papers and the printed cottons and shirt fabrics date from the late 19th century. 58cm x 70cm

Baby blocks coverlet with printed fringe. Maker:UNKNOWN. Date:1870 - 1930. Silk patchwork coverlet in a baby blocks mosaic pieced design, with a floral printed fringe on three sides. The fringe is 12 cm deep and was printed in 1930 on an ALJABA machine, and could therefore be a later addition. Although there is no quilting, the layers are tied together at regular intervals.

Hexagon Lozenges Top. Maker:Unknown. Date:1850 - 1869. Hexagon shaped mosaic patchwork top made from cotton hexagons arranged to form diamond shapes with hexagon rosette centres. The original papers are still intact.

1875 - 1899. A central rosette surrounded by concentric borders of hexagons and frames made from strips of silk braids and ribbons likely to have been used for furnishings. Possibly made by Ellen Charnley (nee Smart) of Wigan.

Clam shell. Maker :Otway-Ruthven, Jocelyn of Ireland. Date:1939 - 1959

Maker:Colby, Averil Date:1900 - 1960. The maker and date of the hexagons is unknown but thought to date to the late 19th/early 20th century. The loose hexagons were assembled together by Miss Averil Colby in 1960.
