This is my all-time favourite book. Maybe because of the great characters and the adventures they have, maybe because I love Scout's attitude, mayber because I remember my dad reading it to me and my siblings, but mostly because I'm pretty sure my dad IS Atticus Finch.

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon Imaginative story about the meaning of books and protecting them; a young boy in Barcelona, Spain becomes the "guardian" of a rare book and becomes embroiled in mystery when he tries to track down the author after he discovers someone has been burning all copies of his novels. FIC RUIZ ZAFON
My favorite book ever. The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón is a coming-of-age tale of a young boy who, through the magic of a single book, finds a purpose greater than himself and a hero in a man he's never met. Introduction, Excerpt, Author Bio, Author Interview, and Discussion Questions available.
Sam is partway through SHADOW OF THE WIND by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, set in post-World War II Barcelona. It's a great atmospheric story about a lonely motherless boy who tries to track down more stories by the author of his favorite book, only to find that the books are being systematically destroyed by a shadowy, sinister man. People who liked The Thirteenth Tale would like this also.
Definitely worth reading...

In 1920, The Age of Innocence was serialized in four parts in the Pictorial Review magazine, and later released by D. Appleton and Company as a book in New York and in London.
I cried out at the end!
