Leftists refused to work with gun manufacturers and faith-based organizations who are trying to help with coronavirus response. Leftists have denied people medicine because they hate Donald Trump. Leftism is a morally bankrupt ideology that needs to stop plaguing the human species and just slink back into the pit whence it came.
Blame for this global pandemic is rightly being placed at the feet of the Chinese government. But it was their communist predecessors who created the circumstances that led to it. The math is simple . . . Mao's Great Leap Forward led to the starvation of 30 to 70 million Chinese. Desperate to survive, many Chinese people turned to eating wild animals, and trading them as food. Utterly clueless about . . . #china #communism #coronavirus
Late 19th century Leftists figure out that "the workers" are not going to revolt, because capitalism is making their lives better. That's okay—a revolutionary vanguard of intellectuals can do it for them! Early-middle 20th Century Leftists figure out that that doesn't work either. Never mind the whole worker-vs.-capitalist thing. We'll switch it to "oppressed" vs. "oppressor."
Not for socialism, but against it. On the day of the big 2019 election win for Boris Johnson, the Tories, and every Leaver in Britain, Katie Hopkins tweeted the following: Katie Hopkins @KTHopkins Dec 13Your party? Hold on a minute sister. I think you will find it’s OUR party now. Britain has Boris and a blue collar army. Nationalism is back. British people first. The phrase blue-collar army rang in my brain, and set off a rapid chain of thoughts that led to a revelation of sorts . .
"Those bad versions of socialism just weren't done the right way, or by the right people. When my friends and I have complete control of society ... When we control the media, the military, the economy, the government, the courts, the schools, the culture, and every institution; When we have sole control over who gets to own property, and how much, and how much we take from whom, and to whom we give it; When we have the power to overcome objections and the political might to punish...
In a delightful tweet today, @DanielHannan reminds us of an important quote from archetypal conservative Edmund Burke: Britain has been saved by what Edmund Burke called “the wisdom of unlettered men.” In 1940, working people backed Winston Churchill. In 1979, they backed Margaret Thatcher. This time, too, they ignored the hectoring and did what they knew to be right . . . #classicalliberalism #conservatism #edmundburke #williamfbuckley
The left's media-academia-political power elite are making people crazy. If Trump were an actual fascist/racist who'd been fraudulently elected, this display (and the many others like it) might be almost understandable. He isn't, though. The lies told about him are very damaging. PS: Whether it be simply inelegant shorthand or a bit more negative, I am not endorsing the references to a "tranny" and a "girl." Their circumstances or choices in those regards are of no interest to me. One is..
Recently, in response to a complaint from my teenage son, I was compelled to answer, in a rather deep voice, "Perhaps you feel you're bring treated unfairly." A week or so later, a similar situation arose, and I said, "I am altering the arrangement—pray I don't alter it any further." Is it bad that I am channeling Darth Vader when dealing with my child?
We should avoid the mistake of conflating problems on the margins with problems with an entire system... Capitalism may have problems on the margins, but the system itself does not have problems. The system is sound. Capitalism—that is, the emergent-order phenomenon of voluntary free exchange—is the most natural form of human economy.* Socialism, #capitalism #socialism
The slow march towards the gulags continues, and AOC is beating the drum: Speaking at the Monday event “Blackout for Human Rights: MLK Now 2020” at Riverside Church in Manhattan, the New York congresswoman said, evoking applause, “No one ever makes a billion dollars. You take a billion dollars.” If you think that the word "gulag" is overwrought, try a thought experiment. #AOC #socialism #communism #oppression #totalitarianism
In my old car, I have an audiobook version of The Original Argument: The Federalists' Case for the Constitution, Adapted for the 21st Century. Conceived by Joshua Charles and actuated by Charles and Glenn Beck, the book recasts the Federalist Papers into modern language—much easier to wrap one's mind around than the more florid late 18th-century style in which they were written. Driving around running errands in the old car—stuff I wouldn't do in our newer car, like picking up bails of
Capitalism, properly understood and employed, is morally good in the following ways: it does not involve coercive force; it requires that people find ways to make other people's lives better (or they won't transact business); both parties in a voluntary exchange leave the exchange feeling they are better off, otherwise they would not have done the exchange. (Obviously there are situational exceptions, but that is the general principle); it produces innovations which raise living
"In any age, the so-called progressives treat politics as their religion. Their holy mission is to use the coercive power of the State to remake man and society in their own image, according to an abstract ideal of perfection. Whatever means they use are therefore justified because, by definition, they are a virtuous people pursing a deific end. #freedomquotes #trumpimpeachment #williambarr
The average left-leaning person will insist that compassion is the primary emotion upon which the left’s ideology is built. There’s obviously truth there. Compassion is a core human emotion, and the left offers a pathway for helping our fellow man that is, at least superficially, very appealing. At its core, the ideology of the left is focused on the equalization of outcomes. To anthropomorphize the ideology for a moment . . . “it” looks out at the world and thinks . . .
Libertarianism is—or at least it used to be—an ideological stance with specific principles derived from classical liberal philosophies of individual sovereignty and rights, and the elimination of coercive force in human interactions. It is not a catch-all label for every callow hipster and wannabe-iconoclast who doesn’t want to identify as progressive or conservative but who cannot think of anything better to call himself.
