Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins has a wonderful teenage female protaganist who is faced with unthinkable moral dilemmas. Her character exhibits strength and moral courage but the author does a strong job showing the toll violence takes. Excellent trilogy!
Catching Fire. My favorite book in the series, because a lot of character development occurred in the way Peeta stepped up and led both Katniss and Haymitch and it showed another side to Katniss, especially when her and Finnick met up with the Jabberjays.
Having survived the Hunger Games twice before, Katniss Everdeen is lucky to be alive. However, she is far from safe. With the Capitol and President Snow blaming her for the strife plaguing District Katniss must sacrifice herself to protect her loved ones.
