Give each student a sheet of paper with every classmate's name on it. They had to write a nice sentence about everyone in the class. Then each student has 20+ nice things written about him or her. This activity was great because some of the students in my class don't hear about how great they are at home. Keep them in a frame to preserve them. The kids will love hearing about how great they are from classmates.

What a super addition to your literacy center. There are great ideas here for making "story baskets" that children can use to retell classic tales. This photo shows the Three Little Pigs story basket.

A HUGE thank you to Jodi at Fun in First Grade for this idea. We used it today to review our weekly story before our test. Tomorrow we will be making flowers with our -ow words on the petals and measuring how long our flowers are with rulers, unifix cubes, and paper clips.
