This is my ancestor Nicolas Thirion . He served with Napoleons Grande Armee. In 1812 he wrote: "Never had more beautiful cavalry been seen ! Never had the regiments reached such high effectives. And never had cavalry been so well mounted." In 1814 he joined the Netherlands Hussar Regt no 6 and fought with the Allies against the French at Quatre Bras (Waterloo campaign) in 1815. He is depicted here in the uniform of the 6th Hussars wearing the Order of William, the highest Dutch decoration.

“Just a shot of the Prinsengracht canal. In the background that's the Westerkerk (western church). The church is famous because Anne Frank's house is right next door. This church is mentioned often in her diary. It's clock tower could be seen from the attic and she often talked about how the chiming of the church bells was comforting to her while she was hiding from the Nazis. The same bells still ring today. #Amsterdam #Netherlands #Holland #canals #beautiful #water #clouds #church #history”

Pinner writes: I was Baptized into the Catholic Church while listening to the Choir sing Mozart's "Requiem Mass" - which was bitter sweet, while that song represents Mozart's death, my baptism represented my rebirth. The majority of Mozart's music is light, airy, and very sharp. I have a special love for Mozart because of his love for the Viola.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791), was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical era. Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty. During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of his death.
