The absolutely stunning Basillica San Vitale in Revenna, Italt. How is that I have missed this on past trips???? The Basilica of San Vitale is a church in Ravenna, Italy and one of the most important examples of early Christian Byzantine art and architecture in western Europe. It is one of eight Ravenna structures inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilica_of_San_Vitale
Venice, Italy. I remember being caught at "alta acqua" & having to make do with an impromptu picnic lunch on the steps of this Basilica. An unexpected opportunity to sit back & take in the views across the Grande Canal to San Marco & the Doge's Palace.
