This is a wonderful tool that works with any type of informational or non-fiction text. This resource is Common Core aligned and was created for upper grades. Students are scaffolded through this response sheet. Students must complete a pre-read where they state what the article will be about, what they think they already know about the topic to activate their schema.
Could use this for independent reading as a "contest". Have the kids find examples of each of these features. Write the book title and page number and how it helps the reader understand the text. First students to find them all wins.
