How to hand express - Position your thumb & first two fingers about 2.5–4 cm behind the nipple. Place your thumb pad above the nipple & the finger pads below the nipple forming the letter ‘C’ with the hand. Push straight into the chest wall. Roll thumb & fingers forward as if making thumb & fingerprints at the same time. Repeat rhythmically to drain the breast. Position, push, roll, position, push, roll. Rotate your thumb & finger position to milk the other ducts. Hand expressing shouldn't hurt. Plan Posts, Antenatal, Preterm, Dragonfly In Amber, Birth Plan, After Birth, Two Fingers, Postnatal
