My daughter and I made something very similiar to this for a year end gift for her preschool teacher. Except instead of white flowers on dry erase markers - I used glittered, foam flower stickers on pencils and markers. I should have taken a picture. I set the flower pens into a glass vase that was filled with glass stones.

art + math = awesome lesson involves Paul Klee & multiplication. students get background knowledge of Klee, we talk about tessellations & multip. students get a page of 1-inch graph paper & write out a 1 digit C 1 digit mult. problem w/ a 2 digit answer.
