l’Hermitage Plantation” as it is called in French, was originally a wedding present to the son of the prominent French Louisiana family of Emmanuel Marius Pons Bringier. The family gave a plantation, complete with manor house, as a wedding present to each child. Michel Doradou Bringier was the son who accepted this amazing gift when he married his fourteen year old wife Louise Elizabeth Aglae duBourg de Saint-Colombe in 1812.

Felicité Plantation - built in1847, Felicité is located along the Great River Road (Highway 18) in Vacherie, Louisiana. It is among a very important three mile row of plantations which include Oak Alley, St. Joseph and Laura.

Waverly Plantation, Mississippi This plantation is estimated to be built around 1852 and is unique with an interior central rotunda. Another unique feature was the third circular floor is one continuous space with no windows. This 'trunk room' was used for storage and was useful when guest came overnight. The plantation contained gardens, orchards, livestock, a brick kiln, cotton gin, ice house, lumber mill, leather tannery and hat manufacturing operation.

Seven Oaks Plantation, was across the Miss. river from New Orleans Audubon Zoo in the Westwego community. Built ca. 1840, it was once one of the greatest sugar plantations along River Road. Occupied by both Confederate & Union troops during the Civil War. Used as army barracks during WWI. Vacated in 1957, it went into a state of deterioration. It was sadly demolished in 1977. Note it had 8 columns on the front & back & 7 columns on the sides.
