Malala Yousafzai: The World's 100 Most Influential People | TIME.com
Malala Yousafzai, a 17 year old from the Swat Valley of Pakistan, is an advocate for education. In 2012, she was shot by the Taliban at point blank range while on her way to school. Thankfully she survived the attack, and soon after, a UN petition was launched in her name that demands education for all children around the world. In 2013, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, making her, at the age of 16, the youngest person to be nominated for the award.
