"Snakeman" Robert Mapplethorpe (November 4, 1946 – March 9, 1989) was an American photographer, known for his large-scale, highly stylized black and white portraits, photos of flowers and nude men. The frank homoeroticism of some of the work of his middle period triggered a more general controversy about the public funding of artworks.

Volcano seen from space station. Amazing how you can see something close up and it look so big, yet from outer space it seems so small than it looks like a little amber from a flame. You can also see the ash as it spreads across the water next to it.
Volcano seen from space. It is a photo manipulation but the aerial shot of volcano is real.

volcano, seen from space. This is one of the many reasons I wanted to be an astronaut or a vulcanologist when I was a kid. Science is SO cool!

Ruth St. Denis in Radha. (via New York Public Library) “Ruth St.Denis was an early modern dance pioneer. Her early works are indicative of her interests in exotic mysticism and spirituality. She and her husband,Ted Shawn, were known for their “oriental” productions.”
Ruth St. Denis (January 20, 1879 – July 21, 1968) was a modern dance pioneer, introducing eastern ideas into the art. Denis' dance career began with acrobatics, high kicking, ballet and acting. Later she moved to modern dance. Her early works are indicative of her interests in exotic mysticism and spirituality. She believed dance to be a spiritual expression. In 1938 St. Denis founded Adelphi University's dance program, one of the first dance departments in an American university.

Nothing gives an Unseelie Fae away more than their blackened hands. The further up the darkness travels, the more likely they’ve dabbled in the black arts.

I made these in high school and loved them, but I had Williamsburg pottery factory for my glass containers.
The appeal of a terrarium is obvious: it's a tiny, perfect world that is totally under your control. No one has kicked off smelly sneakers and left them by the door for you to trip over.
