NHL   Andrei Markov broke a more than two-year-old drought with a pair of goals and Alex Galchenyuk got the first of his NHL career as the Montreal Canadiens downed the Florida Panthers 4-1. Tomas Plekanec also scored for Montreal (1-1-0),    2.  Evander Kane and Blake Wheeler each provided a goal and an assist, and the Winnipeg Jets , beat Alex Ovechkin’s struggling Capitals 4-2  to end Washington’s 10-game winning streak in home openers.
