Botanicus Interacticus is a technology for designing highly expressive interactive plants, both living and artificial. The technology is driven by the rapid fusion of our computing and living spaces. Botanicus Interacticus an interaction platform that takes interaction from computing devices and places it anywhere in the physical environment. In particular we are targeting living plants.
Disney scientists at Carnegie Mellon have invented a touch-controlled houseplant that they've given the name Botanicus Interacticus. It's a weird, compelling technology that wires up living houseplants and allows humans to interact with them in a number of ways -- most impressively, perhaps, by transforming the plant into a fully-functional musical instrument. This means that, just as you can play the keyboard or the saxophone, you can also "play" any number of potted plants

Welcome to the Future! This Tiny Gizmo Could Be A Very Big Deal In 2013 - Basically the engineers at Leap Motion have invented the 3D user interface of the future. You don’t use a keyboard and mouse; you don’t even use a touch screen. You just move your fingers in the air, and, as if by magic, with zero latency and pinpoint accuracy, stuff happens on your screen.

‘Sand Flea’ Robot Jumps 30 Feet [VIDEO]... Robotics company Boston Dynamics created an 11-pound robot called the “Sand Flea” that can jump 30 feet in the air and is equipped with an infrared camera. “The robot uses gyro stabilization to stay level during flight, to provide a clear view from the onboard camera, and to ensure a smooth landing,” notes its website. Funding from DARPA, JIEDDO (Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization) and the U.S. Army’s Rapid Equipping Force.

Sand Flea Jumping Robot. Sand Flea is an 11-lb robot with one trick up its sleeve: Normally it drives like an RC car, but when it needs to it can jump 30 feet into the air. An onboard stabilization system keeps it oriented during flight to improve the view from the video uplink and to control landings. Current development of Sand Flea is funded by the The US Army's Rapid Equipping Force. For more information visit www.BostonDynamics.com.

A 3D screen #geek #tech #gadgets #robpalmwhistler
Researchers Jinha Lee and Cati Boulanger of the Microsoft Applied Sciences Group have developed a prototype called the See-Through 3D Desktop where the user reaches behind the screen to interact with objects in virtual 3D space.
Transparent 3D computer unveiled: A transparent computer that allows users to reach inside and touch digital content has been unveiled at the Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) conference in Los Angeles. TED fellow Jinha Lee has been working on the SpaceTop 3D desktop in collaboration with Microsoft.
MIT Media Lab + Microsoft. Lee’s PC uses a transparent display with 3D technology and gesture recognition. Gestures are performed behind the angled display rather than in front of it as with most gesture-based control systems, and a front-facing camera system tracks the user’s head so the 3D perspective shown on the computer’s display adjusts appropriately when the user shifts his or her position.
