1,500 people are killed every day because of conflict and armed violence. The global arms trade is out of control. Currently no global, legally binding instrument exists to regulate the international trade in weapons. As a result, gaps and legal loopholes can be exploited, allowing arms to be transferred to situations where they’re used to fuel conflict, commit human rights abuses and undermine sustainable development and poverty reduction.

Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel | Oxfam International

The Israeli-led illegal blockade of Gaza has decimated the Gazan economy, much of it all but destroyed after more than a decade of restrictions on exports, imports, and movement. Gaza has been declared unlivable, with one of the highest unemployment rates in the world and 80 percent of people relying on humanitarian aid to survive. This visual was produced by Visualizing Palestine in collaboration with Oxfam, to highlight the daily realities faced by Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip.
