Lecturer to appear on BBC Radio 4 flagship show

Dr Nicole Pohl, Reader in the Department of English and Modern Languages, discussed the Bluestockings on Melvyn Bragg’s BBC Radio 4 programme, In Our Time. A small group of eighteenth-century women discussing literature and other matters, the Bluestockings were fighting the contemporary view that women were not expected to be highly educated. Stone exhibition comes to the Glass Tank

A sculptural installation focusing on the transformative qualities of material is currently on show at Oxford Brookes' Glass Tank Gallery. The exhibition, entitled Ways Through Stone, is on display until Monday 3 March. The installation consists of a ‘flow’ of Cotswold limestone that follows the exact direction of the geological formation deep down under our feet and forms part of a practice-based PhD. The Oxford Brookes Social Entrepreneur Awards (OBSEA) have been shortlisted for the Guardian University Awards 2014. From Passion to Action, the Oxford Brookes Social Entrepreneur Awards (OBSEA) programme has been shortlisted for the The Guardian University Awards 2014, in the Enhancing Student Experience category.

Oxford Brookes, in partnership with the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology at Oxford University, has been awarded funding to buy a scanning electron microscope.  Researchers in the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences (BMS) won £749,000 from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) for a new high resolution scanning electron microscope.
