"Now here’s the trick. Once you’ve got a good candidate, take a sneak-peak at what’s inside. Discreetly flick the dry stem off the fruit. If you see a brown patch under the stem, put that avocado back. It will be gross inside. But, if the fruit right under the stem is bright avocado yellow-green, you have a winner. Your avocado will be great." #NWEdible
Stopped buying the jar stuff once I tasted this homemade salsa. Simple and delicious: Chop 5-6 Roma tomatoes,1 small onion and 1/2 cup fresh Cilantro. Mince 2 seeded Serrano or Jalapeño peppers and 1 clove of garlic. Add 2 tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice and salt and peper to taste. Mix everything together and let sit overnight for flavors to meld. This recipe is the third one down on this blog.
One gallon of milk will yield about 1 pound of cheese. ($2.39 for the milk, so 1 pound of fresh mozzarella was less than $2.50). Homemade Mozzarella Cheese is one of the easiest cheeses to make, it only takes 30 minutes and the taste can't be beat!
This lady is a genius!!!! WOW! 4 hours, 46 meals, 95 dollars. Another pinner said, "I started doing this earlier this year and cannot believe how much stress it has eliminated and how much better we are eating while saving money."
DOING THIS: Rachel Ray talked about how you should make your own taco seasoning because the stuff you buy in stores is full of sodium(and it has silica in it, which is like the little packet found in new shoes that says DO NOT EAT!). 1 T chili powder, 1 T ground cumin, 1 T garlic powder, 1 T onion powder, 1/4 T crushed red pepper
