Self Portait- Painter and his Pug William Hogarth (10 November 1697 – 26 October 1764) was an English painter, printmaker, pictorial satirist, social critic and editorial cartoonist who has been credited with pioneering western sequential art. His work ranged from realistic portraiture to comic strip-like series of pictures called "modern moral subjects". Knowledge of his work is so pervasive that satirical political illustrations in this style are often referred to as "Hogarthian."

After Jane became Queen, Elizabeth married Gregory Cromwell, son of the powerful Thomas Cromwell. Gregory and she had five children. This portrait was once thought to be of Catherine Howard, but historians now believe it is Lady Cromwell instead.

Married Her second husband Baron Gregory Cromwell who is the son of Henry VIII's chancellor, Thomas Cromwell. Served in the households of Anne of Cleves and Katherine Howard. Gregory Cromwell is given back the lands attainted on his fathers execution. Elizabeth and Gregory attend the reception for the arrival of Anne of Cleves.

Formerly thought to be Catherine Howard, by Hans Holbein the Younger, 1540-41. Now believed to be Lady Elizabeth Seymour, sister of Lady Jane Seymour, Henry VIII's third queen, and married, as her second husband, to Gregory Cromwell, 1st Baron Cromwell, son of Thomas Cromwell.

Henry Brandon, England, Henry Viii, Prince, Sons, Hans Holbein, Edward Vi, Mary Tudor, Monkey
Henry Brandon, Earl of Lincoln, son of Princess Mary Tudor, Nephew of Henry VIII For many years, it was believed that this picture of Henry VIII's nephew, Henry Brandon, Earl, of Lincoln, was Prince Edward, Henry VIII's son by Jane Seymour. Recent scholarship has shown it to be young Brandon, who later died at about age 11. c 1541 - 42 http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Henry_Brandon,_Earl_of_Lincoln.jpg
A portrait once thought to be of Edward VI now thought to be of Henry Brandon, Earl of Lincoln with his monkey. Henry was the youngest son of Charles Brandon and his third wife, Mary Tudor Queen of France.
According to the site I pinned this from this portrait is entitled "Edward, Prince Of Wales, With Monkey", but other sources attribute the sitter as being Henry FitzRoy, 1st Duke of Richmond and Somerset; the son of King Henry VIII of England and his mistress Elizabeth Blount - the only illegitimate offspring whom Henry acknowledged. Artist: Hans Holbein the Younger (1497 – 1543).

Queen Mary I Tudor, 1536, Black chalks, Windsor Castle, Royal Library, Lady Mary Tudor, the later Queen Mary I. of England "Bloody Mary", only surviving child of King Henry VIII. of England and his first wife Katherine of Aragon
Image:: A 20-year old Mary Tudor, Princess of Wales, by Holbein, Jr. Later she will be known as Mary I Tudor. || Mary was the only surviving child of Henry VIII and his first wife and the only king's daughter who got the title of Princess of Wales. Since 1301 the title of Prince of Wales was granted to male heirs of British crown after investiture. The title of Princess of Wales is given only to their wives so Mary I was the only exception to the rule in the history of the British monarchy.
The Princess Mary, Later Queen Mary I, c1536, black chalk drawing by Hans Holbein the Younger (1498-1543). Royal Library, Windsor Castle. Mary was aged about 20 as at the date of this sketch. The sole surviving heir of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, she was declared illegitimate by Henry, losing the title of Princess, becoming "The Lady Mary". She became England's first Queen regnant, sadly her zealous burning of Protestants earnt her perpetual infamy and be known as "Bloody Mary"
