Gina and I want to travel. Boy do we want to travel. There are so many places to see, things to do, people to meet. We purchased 1000 Place to See Before You Die to give us a foundation for our planning, but there are some we will trade and others we will keep. To start, lets go with the 1000 recommendations.

Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon,. Portugal -- Museu Calouste Gulbenkian (Calouste Gulbenkian Museum) is a museum in Lisbon, Portugal, containing a collection of ancient, and some modern art. The museum was founded according to Calouste Gulbenkian's last will, in order to accommodate and display Gulbenkian's art collection belonging now to the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Obidos, Portugal -- Each July Óbidos castle hosts a traditional Medieval Market. Spit roasted hog, hearty soups, rabbit, lamb, cod, quail, sausages and other grilled meats are just some of the many medieval style meals on offer from dozens of "taverns" and stalls spread throughout the market. Drinking from pewter tankards and eating from wooden trencher all adds to the experience.

Bussaco Forest, Coimbra, Beiras, Portugal -- Bussaco forest is like an enchanted wood, as we can find the amazing centuries trees from all over the world, in this 105 ha walled national park, with romantic lakes and breathtaking sightseeing views.

Marvao, Portugal -- Perched on a granite crag, Marvão's name is derived from a 8 c. Muslim chieftain, named Ibn Marwan. Ibn Marwan used the fortress as a power base when establishing an independent statelet - covering much of modern-day Portugal - during the Cordoban emirate (884-931 CE). The castle and walled village were further fortified through the centuries, notably under Sancho II of Portugal(13 c.) and Denis of Portugal.
