Wilhelmshöhe Castle (formerly Karlsberg) was built in It occupies an entire hillside in the city of Kassel, Germany. The crown of the hill is the gigantic 'grotto' topped by the sculpture of Hercules, situated almost 300 m above the foot of the garden.
In the midst of a large wood, Château de la Motte-Chandeniers is a former stronghold of the illustrious Bauçay family, lords of Loudun. The stronghold dates to the thirteenth century and was originally called Motte Bauçay (or Baussay).
It was partially destroyed by a great fire March just after the baron Robert Lejeune, then owner of the castle, had been installing new central heating. The castle now remains in ruins. Only the chapel behind the castle was spared
