Owls Head Lighthouse is situated in Rockland, Maine just down the coast on route 1 from Camden and Rockport.  This is one of our favorite day trips from the Pentagoet Inn.   Owls Head is a great place to visit and enjoy the view of surrounding islands.  From the lighthouse you can see Camden, Islesboro and North Haven.  www.pentagoet.com

Dyce Head Lighthouse in Castine, Maine is part of the United States Lighthouse Society.  This society is a non-profit, educational organization created to help educate, inform and entertain those interested in United States lighthouses.  Visitors may purchase Lighthouse Passports from the USLS website and have them stamped with an official lighthouse stamp.   The Pentagoet Inn is the official lighthouse stamp location for Dyce Head .  Don't miss out on visiting this wonderful lighthouse

Hiking in and around Castine provides ample opportunites to connect with nature and wildlife.  The Witherlee Woods and Renee Henderson Nature Preserve are both in Castine and Holbrook Island Sanctuary is just across the bay.  A hike up Blue Hill Mountain is a must for any traveler visiting the area providing expansive views of Blue Hill Bay and beyond.  The seals pictured above can be seen from the Edgar M. Tennis Preserve hike in Deer Isle.

Sunset Acres Farm and Dairy in Brooksville, Maine is right across the harbor from Castine.  They produce the most amazing artisanal and farmstead goat cheese.  At their small saltwater farm and dairy they milk 100 Saanen, Nubian and Alpine dairy goats fed grain with no artificial hormones or meat by-products.
