Love this idea... Line plant pots with coffee filters - water flows through and dirt stays put!

POTATO TOWERS ( # 1 of 3):  Lay down a 2-3" layer of straw on the bottom, create a 'bird nest' inside the bin.  The straw naturally supports itself up the sides as you spread it, leaving a large central area for the compost. Shovel in the compost.  Layer first potatoes about 1 ft above the ground.

potato bin, medium size, all i used was a used tire(bottom portion) sealed it, then filled with broken bricks. wraped spare rabbit wire around and started to fill with dirt and leaves (leaves on outside, dirt inside)

My Potato Bin.  What you will need: 1 large mesh laundry pop-up hamper. 6 potatoes w/eyes budding. Vegetable soil, and/or Straw.  Add some soil. Now add your potatoes. Lay them about 2 to 3 inches apart. Now add about 5 inches of soil on top of the potatoes. Hill the stem every 2 weeks. And in about 2 Months You should have a nice harvest. Remember to water often. These are thirsty tators. :D (This will be my first harvest.)

Highly decorative, can be trained into a fan against a wall.  Very attractive blossom, and they make ideal pollinators for pears. Self-fertile. RHS Award of Garden Merit winner.
