While taking photos of the Milky Way galaxy from the summit of Mount Haleakala, I got an eerie shot of my buddy. Haleakala National Park on the island of Maui in Hawaii.

Hiking Haleakala, Maui, Hawaii. An amazing albeit hot (depending on what time of year you go) hike through the Crater.

I love agave plants. One I got from Mallorca, where I found a piece of root with one little leaf on a rock, torn out by someone and left behind. I took it with me in the plane, nursing it (back then a child carrying a plant in a wet handkerchief was smiled at, not treated as a security risk) and making her grow. The other I found in Israel and brought home in a cut-off bottle with soil.

Couldn't resist repinning this photo by Brad Wilson of Silene Polypetala, also known as the eastern fringed catchfly, a federally listed endangered species of the United States.
