We had a TV just like this in the 70s ... it had no remote control. Also, back then most stations signed off around 1:00 a.m., and then all that showed was a "test pattern" until they signed back on.
Back when TVs were a decorative piece of furniture and us kids were the remote control! and on the screen is a test pattern!
test patterns & no remote...this looks like the TV my brother won! Our first color TV that had a screen bigger than a dinner plate...
Back when TVs were a decorative piece of furniture and us kids were the remote control! Also that multi-color test pattern that came on after the station signed off for the night and they played the star spangled banner.
test patterns no remote - This looks like my parents' first color TV ... after I went away to college ... Had it for over 20 years
Test patterns and no remote. (We didn't get a color TV until after everyone else. They were about $600 I think--really expensive!)
Back when TVs were a decorative piece of furniture. Our first color tv was 1973 and first console black & white was 1967

We had 4 channels, ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS. The TV went off at night, played the national anthem and then you saw this. It was called the "test pattern."

TV Test Pattern, After the National Anthem was played, television shut off each night. Remember in the early 1970's when Tom Snyder had a late night talk show that stayed on until 1:00.
indian head tv test pattern - I'd often see this when I would babysit late at night. TVs would shut down at midnight or so and this would show up with a horrible bleating sound. No more tv for the night!
The Indian Head Test Pattern was a black and white television test pattern which was introduced in 1939 by RCA of Harrison, New Jersey as a part of the RCA TK-1 Monoscope. Its name comes from the original art of a Native American featured on the card.
TV Test Pattern!! Can you hear the sound?? (If you remember seeing this, you can remember hearing it, too!)
The Indian Head Test Pattern became familiar to the large post-war Baby Boom TV audiences in America from 1947 onwards; it would often follow the formal television station sign-off after the United States national anthem.
TV Test Pattern -- no TV after midnight!--actually at first we only had television from 7 until 9--I think--d and that was when I quite old. d
Who remembers when every TV station signed off at midnight, leaving this "test pattern" on the screen? Ah the famous Indian Head Test Pattern.

THE ADVENTURES OF RIN TIN TIN, an ABC television series, ran from October 1954 to May 1959. It featured Duncan's Rin Tin Tin IV as the lead dog, although some of the work was performed by a dog owned by Frank Barnes called J.R. and Duncan's Rin Tin Tin line dogs named Hey You and Rin Tin Tin II.
