Davis Bynum Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2010 ($35/sample) - Ruby in color with aromas of raspberry, cranberry and fennel. Bright raspberry and strawberry flavors finishing with a hint of cinnamon. A crowd pleasing Pinot for current drinking.

Kelly Fleming, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley "Estate Grown" 2008 - ($90/sample) - Dark purple-black in color with aromas of blackberry, sage, tobacco and black licorice. Bold black cherry and cocca flavors with mint and cassis finishing with firm tannins. Needs decanting now but will improve in the bottle for 10-12 years or more. Highly recommended.

Swanson Vineyards, Merlot, Oakville, Napa Valley 2007 ($38/sample) - Purple-black in color with aromas of black cherry, black licorice and eucalyptus. Blackcurrant and black cherry flavors with white pepper finishing with moderate tannins. Nice varietal character in a Cab-like style but still very much a Napa Valley Merlot. Highly recommended.

Rodney Strong, Reserve Chardonnay 2009 ($35/sample) - Golden yellow in color with aromas of pineapple, pear, butterscotch and toasty oak. Round pear and apple flavors finishing with just a hint of caramel and good acidity. A very well made California Chardonnay in the classic rich style but with some restraint on the oak.

Flowers, Pinot Noir, Andreen-Gale, Sonoma Coast 2007 ($55/sample) - Ruby in color with aromas of black cherry, raspberry, violet and black tea. Black cherry and raspberry flavors with mineral and wild berries on a long finish. Great acidity here. Highly recommended.

Davis Bynum, Chardonnay, Russian River Valley 2010 ($25/sample) - Golden straw in color with aromas of pear, pineapple and oak toast. Bright and rich in the mouth with pear and apple flavors finishing with a squeeze of citrus. Well balanced with good acidity for food.

Benessere, Zinfandel, Estate Black Glass Vineyard, Napa Valley 2008 ($28/sample) - Ruby in color with aromas of strawberry, black cherry, sage and black licorice. Plush strawberry and red cherry fruit in the mouth with white pepper finishing with moderate tannins. A very polished and gentle style of Zinfandel that a lot of people will love. Highly recommended.

Swanson Vineyards, Pinot Grigio, Napa Valley 2009 ($21/sample) - Light straw color with aromas of green apple, white peach, citrus and slate. Rich pear, lemon and peach flavors finishing dry with bright acidity and a mineral note.

Chateau Margene, Mooney Family, Petite Sirah, Paso Robles 2007 ($52/sample) - A blend of 85% Petite Sirah and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Black-purple in color with aromas of blueberry, blackberry, blackcurrant and black licorice. Round and rich in the mouth with boysenberry and blackcurrant fruit, some white pepper finishing with plush tannins. A very nice take on Petite Sirah with a more complex Cab twist. Highly Recommended.

Kim Crawford, Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand 2010 ($15/sample) - Very pale straw-green color with explosive aromas of gooseberry, juniper and fresh cut hay. Tart lime flavors with a touch of fresh bell pepper finishing with plenty of acidity. Still a leader of the New Zealand SB scene and available everywhere.

Swanson Vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon, "Alexis", Oakville, Napa Valley 2007 ($75/sample) - Dark purple-black in color with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, eucalyptus, sage and fennel. Rich blackberry and cassis flavors with black pepper, coffee and mint finishing with ripe, polished tannins. One for the cellar for a decade or more. If you want to enjoy now, it demands 1-2 hours in a decanter. A classic expression of Oakville Cab. Highly Recommended.

Smith-Madrone, Chardonnay, Spring Mountain District, Napa Valley 2008 ($30/sample) - Straw in color with aromas of pear, green apple and caramel. Rich pineapple, pear and citrus flavors finishing with smoke and caramel. Classic Napa Chardonnay with great balance and nuance. Highly Recommended.

Nobilo Icon, Sauvignon Blanc 2010 ($14/sample) - Light straw in color with aromas of grapefruit and gooseberry. Bright citrus and passion fruit flavors finish dry with refreshing acidity. About as good as New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc gets. Highly recommended.

Benessere, "Phenomenon", Napa Valley 2006 ($50/sample) - A blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot and 2% Syrah. Dark ruby color with aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant, black licorice, olives and fennel. Earthy black cherry and blackcurrant fruit with black pepper and mint finishing with moderate tannins.

Murrieta's Well, "The Whip" White Blend, Livermore Valley 2010 ($20/sample) - Straw-green color with aromas of pineapple, white peach, honeysuckle and grapefruit. Tart citrus and pineapple flavors finishing dry with some peach and good acidity. Don't chill this one too much as you will miss a lot of what this wine has to offer.

Rich blackcurrant and black cherry fruit flavors with white pepper and mint finishing with moderate tannins. A classic Napa Valley Cab that is delicious now but will reward cellaring for the next 10-15 years. Highly Recommended.

2008 Rodney Strong "Symmetry" Red Meritage ($55/sample) - Dark ruby color with aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, fennel and chaparral. Polished blackberry and currant fruit with black pepper finishing with moderately firm tannins. A fine blend that will continue to improve for the next 3-5 years in the cellar. Highly recommended.
