I did this with my br last summer. I saw this on the blog and knew I had to try it. My cabinets are a light maple and I have white tile & counter top. When I painted the cabinet, it really popped! I found 2 dark frame mirrors from Home Goods (a lot cheaper than 1 large one). Wish I could get brave enough to do this to my kitchen!
I used Red Gumball by Olympic and mixed in some baking soda to make chalk paint. I added brown glaze because I had it on hand and to tone down the red. After I sanded and distressed, I rubbed Kona black stain to create a deeper red and a glazed look.
