It is the oldest surviving lighthouse in North America and its construction is a National Historic Event of Canada.

    Sambro Island Lighthouse, Nova Scotia - oldest lighthouse in Canada & oldest continuously operated lighthouse in North America. Personally, my uncle & 2 (at least) generations of grandfather's were keepers in Port Lorne, on the Fundy shore.
