.Together - When I saw this picture I thought of each of us. Each with our beautiful imperfections, yet together we have the joy, magic, love and light to create miracles. I love you.

To fly is to love with both wings, because - "We are, each of us, angels with only one wing, and we can fly only by embracing each other" - says Luciano De Crescenzo.. I once asked an old man: "Which is more important: to love or to be loved?" He replied: "Which is more important to the bird: the left wing or the right wing?"

Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on the ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there, I did not die. -Mary Frye Angels....

When Caroline Walter of Freiburg, Germany died at the age of 16, her sister Selma had a sculptor cast a life size sculpture for the gravestone. Every morning since Caroline's funeral, a fresh flower was found tucked in the crook of the arm, and still is to this day. Nobody knows who leaves it. Every single morning. Except Caroline died in 1867. For 145 years, someone(s) have been leaving flowers. Now that's devotion!

Unearthed in 1972, Lady Cheng is the most well-preserved body ever uncovered. After 2100 years, her tissues were still elastic, and her joints partly movable. She was buried with ming-chi’i (spirit goods), miniatures of possessions, including an entourage of servants and exquisite lacquer ware. The complete preservation method is unknown. She had been buried within a set of three wooden coffins tightly fitted inside each other. The burial chamber was covered with charcoal and clay.

Sokushinbutsu - Buddhist ritualistic self-mummification - For 1000 days the priests would eat a special diet of nuts and seeds, while taking part in rigorous physical activity that stripped them of body fat. They ate only bark and roots for another 1000 days & drank poisonous tea made from the Urushi tree. This caused vomiting & a rapid loss of bodily fluids & made the body poisonous to maggots. The monk would then lock himself in a stone tomb where he would not move from the lotus position.

A pleurant (French) or "weeper" (in English) was a statue that was meant to mourn eternally at the grave of a loved one.

Rosalia Lombardo was born in 1918 in Palermo, Sicily. She died on December 6 1920. It is thought that she died from a bronchial infection. Rosalia's father was sorely grieved upon her death that he approached Dr. Alfredo Salafia, a noted embalmer, to preserve her. She was one of the last corpses to be admitted to the Capuchin catacombs of Palermo in Sicily.

in denmark, 1950, two brothers were digging peat to be used as fuel when they came across what is now known as the tollund man. he still had hair, skin, and a five o'clock shadow, so they assumed it was a recent murder victim and called the police. upon arrival, they noticed rope around his neck: this wasn't a recent murder victim. in fact, the body was from 300-400 BC, and was shockingly well preserved by the peat.

In the late 1880s, the body of a 16-year-old girl was pulled from the Seine. She was apparently a suicide, as her body showed no marks of violence, but her beauty and her enigmatic smile led a Paris pathologist to order a plaster death mask of her face. (...) Though the girl’s identity remains a mystery, her face, it’s said, has become “the most kissed face of all time.”
