75 TV Free Activities For Toddlers. Fun things to do with sweet LL Cool Rae? Aw yeah.
75 TV Free Activities for Toddlers - many are no brainers but when you are sleep deprived it's like not having a brain sometimes so these are good reminders when thinking feels impossible :) Hello! If you are new here check out No Time For Flash Cards on Pinterest and join our Facebook community for more great ideas. 75 activities for toddlers Toddlers are little explorers and love going from one activity to the next so the more ideas you have in your back pocket the better. All of these are free of any tv or other screen time but I would be the world’s biggest hypocrite if I said my kids never watched any TV as toddlers. This list of TV free activities for toddler is a way to inspire myself as much as you to try some of these simple activities before reaching for the remote. Cook – we use play food with real pots a lot. Toss bean bags into laundry baskets. Paint with yogurt Splash in the sink. Pour and scoop some pasta. Mix some colors. Get dressed in sibling’s clothes. Turn up the music and dance Cuddle. Play with a water table with water or rice. pasta in the winter. Play with a light table Cut a slot in a container lid and drop dried pasta into it. Play dress up – use old Halloween costumes, clothes and hats. Find out will it sink or float? Blow bubbles. Have a toy car wash. Build a block tower. Knock it down. Write on the walls. Draw on the windows. Go for a swing. Go into a dark room and play with a flash light. Go for a walk . Make a tower out of pantry foods. Sing songs. Gather your dining chairs and play airplane. Help put away the dishes. Have a bath just for fun. Play store. Help with the laundry. Visit the pet store and see the fish and hamsters. Play mail carrier . Run. Brush teeth ( don’t knock it both my kids loved this) Take your baby dolls for a walk around the house. Play trains. Make playdough cupcakes, muffins and cookies. Walk the plank. Wear them while you( parent) hike. Call Grandparents on the phone and chat. Wrestle. Pretend to be animals and crawl, hop and pounce on the floor. Play at the playground. Collect rocks on a walk or shells on the beach. Go to the library. Explore a local garden center. Make playdough sculptures with popscicle sticks. Make a craft. Help with chores. Paint with water. Look through family photos. Hammer golf tees into foam. Color the patio. Have snack on a chair train ( in your kitchen) Make and play with discovery bottles. Play ball in the yard. Play with large magnets on the fridge, cookie sheets or like she is above the washer while mama folded laundry. Play with a dollhouse Color. Touch and Smell the fruits and veggies at the supermarket instead of just grabbing what you need. Play Duplo. Look for bugs under rocks. Rip and cut scrap paper. Do a puzzle. Go swimming. Paint. Paint with toy cars. Paint with blocks. Paint with toy animals. Play with instruments ( or just a big pot and a few wooden spoons). Water your plants. Play peek-a-boo. Go on a color hunt. Take every DVD out of the drawers and put them back in. This is completely child led at our house. Follow their play and see where it leads you. These are the kinds of things I’ll get out for my toddler when I’m trying to get something done with my other kids and we’re all sitting at the same table. They are quiet, quick to grab, not TOO messy and don’t require lots of supervision. 5 Quiet Activities to Entertain Toddlers Stickers Make marks on a piece of paper and show your toddler how to cover them with stickers. 5 Activities for Toddlers to do at the Table Rip and Tear! Give pieces of paper and a bucket and show your toddler how to rip off pieces and put them all in the bucket. I cut mine into strips to make them more tempting to tear up. As I mention in this post about art with toddlers – destruction can be VERY satisfying to kids this age. 5 Quiet Toddler Activities at the Table Contact Paper! Now you’ve got a bucket of paper bits, contact paper is in order! Tape down a piece of contact paper sticky side up. Show your toddler how paper pieces stick to the contact paper and let them take it from there. 5 Simple Toddler Activities Treasures After a quick contact paper art piece we grabbed this collection of boxes for a mini treasure hunt. Use any random assortment of Things That Open. In the smallest bin or bag put something like cotton balls and a few “treasures.” Put all of these containers together and let your toddler figure out how they open as they search for the treasure inside. Once they get at it you can ask them to put it into the different boxes, hide it for you and so on. It’s simple, but toddlers love to tote around treasures – toddlerhood is the ‘Load and Tote Phase‘, and whether they are loading up boxes or bags, this game of hiding treasures is a favorite. Mix it All Up Once you’ve exhausted your supply of quiet toddler activities what can you do? Mix it all up! At the end of this play session (during which I was doing a writing lesson with her big brother) I re-taped the contact paper and asked her if the cotton balls would stick to it too. Then I handed her a pen to see if she wanted to draw on her masterpiece. This gave my older son and I long enough to finish up what we were doing before my toddler reclaimed my attention. Homemade bath crayons and other fun ideas for toddlers.
Homemade bath crayons - Buy some glycerin soap at a craft store. Melt it in the microwave, add food coloring, and pour into a mold. I used an ice cube tray. You can also add essential oils if you go for scents, though I find that a bit unnecessary for bath crayons. Takes about an hour to cool completely, then pop out of the mold and you have crayons!
