"reading raffle" Type of reinforcement: condition generalized Materials: books, raffle tickets (with student names on them), and buckets to hold the tickets/draw names from. Classroom setting: each time a student completes a session without any behavioral issues, they get to put a ticket into one of the buckets (they select which book they want to put their name in to win). At the end of each week, a name is selected from each bucket, and that student takes the book home.

I like the idea of a reading raffle to inspire kids.. and they have to be engaged in reading to get a ticket!

Reading chains: For middle school, you could have a chain for each class. Have precut strips of paper in different colors for each class. Every time a student finishes a book, they can write their name, title and author of the book on a strip and attach it to their class chain. Perhaps the class with the longest chain at the end of the year could get some type of reward. Hmmm...
