This pattern uses 4 strands of worsted or aran weight yarn held together. It is a lot faster to make the cat bed with double crochet instead of single crochet. However, this bed is not as firm as single crochet. The best trade-off might be to use single crochet on the sides and double crochet for the bottom.
The pattern for this shabby-chic bed came about when our family was recently adopted by a little orange stray tabby. It’s a simple pattern, but uses an interesting technique to ensure that the “right side” is on the inside bottom of the bed, but switches to the outside walls, while still remaining a seamless pattern. Give it a try, and give your favorite kitty a cozy place to take his naps!
