The Parthenon, Zihuatanejo, Gro., Mexico
by JimWalls9 on Flickr
Statues, pool and the "Parthenon, Zihuatanejo" Mexico. This is an abandoned, never-completed house commissioned by the corrupt and egomaniacal Chief of Police to look like the Parthenon in Athens.
This is the never completed home of Arturo "El Negro" Durazo Moreno. He was the Chief of Police in Mexico City for six years, from 1976 to 1982 and was arrested in 1984 and incarcerated on multiple counts of corruption, extortion, tax evasion, smuggling and possession of illegal weapons and cocaine trade kickbacks. His palacial house in Zihuatanejo built to resemble the Parthenon sits abandoned today.
