    This is the never completed home of Arturo "El Negro" Durazo Moreno. He was the Chief of Police in Mexico City for six years, from 1976 to 1982 and was arrested in 1984 and incarcerated on multiple counts of corruption, extortion, tax evasion, smuggling and possession of illegal weapons and cocaine trade kickbacks. His palacial house in Zihuatanejo built to resemble the Parthenon sits abandoned today.

Halcyon Hall of Bennett College in Millbrook, NY. It was a women's college that was founded in 1890. Halcyon Hall was built in 1893, which was originally built as a 200 room hotel, but was adopted by the college in 1907 after the failed in the hotel industry, and it became the main building of the college. The school closed in 1978. It was set to be demolished in 2012.

Love the fountain in the front. I can imagine how lovely all this would have been in it's prime. Seems like such a waste.

    I actually went to this one before it was abandoned. When Hurricane Katrina hit it was abandoned.

There used to be a lot of homes similar to this around when I was a kid...and didn't care to go explore :(

ElkhornSilverKingwriteup...turn off of Hwy 22 about 6 miles west of Mill City near Mehama. Just a few miles up the road you can see a very old schoolhouse that dates probably from the 1900s. Today it and the old gymnasium are on gated off private land, but they are easy to see from the highway.
